Chris Neville Trio

Chris Neville Trio.jpg

A virtuoso pianist, Chris Neville has been the go-to accompanist for the likes of Dizzy Gilespie, Wynton Marsalis and Sonny Stitt. Neville's fifteen-year association with NEA Jazz Master Benny Carter has resulted in eight acclaimed albums, including the Grammy-award winning "Harlem Renaissance." As a leader, his three trio recordings are among the finest in jazz, showcasing an unparalleled technique that never fails to swing.

Bassist Jeff Harshbarger has collaborated with visual artists (Nick Cave, David Ford, Molly Murphy) and musicians (Bobby Watson, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Alaturka, Bach Aria Soloists) to produce work that challenges convention. He curates a twice-monthly concert series that promotes original composition, and hosts "Jazz in the Afternoon" on KKFI. A lecturer in Jazz Studies at KU, Harshbarger is the recipient of fellowships from the Charlotte Street Foundation, The Kennedy Center, and The Steans’ Institute.

Todd Strait is arguably one of the most influential drummers in Kansas City, defining what it means to swing for a generation of musicians. He has an impressive discography of over 100 albums, and has toured internationally with such greats as Woody Herman, Karrin Allyson, Eldar Djangirov and Kevin Mahogany. After many years of traveling abroad, Strait is proud to once again call Kansas City home.
