About this event

J.Mullin Apparel creates one-of-a-kind luxury kimonos and scarves. We provide elevated ease for the sophisticated woman. Handmade from curated fabrics, including repurposed and vintage kimono fabrics. Most garments are fully lined, with roomy pockets and detached belts. We also make scarves and Obi belts using beautiful combinations of repurposed fabrics.

Our new Spring/Summer 2022 Collection will debut on April 21, 2022, at this launch event. Bring your friends and be ready for an elegant dressing room experience. Cocktail attire is recommended. Be sure to reserve your free tickets, as occupancy is limited. Brief presentations will be given at 5 pm and at 6:30 pm, so you can plan to come for the first half or the second half of the event.

Kansas City designer, Joanne Mullin, will share her vision and inspirations for her designs, and talk about her passion for reinvention and empowering women to be who they are meant to be. A pair of our favorite models will demonstrate the many different ways a kimono can be styled to elevate your existing wardrobe.

Special guest Jennifer Lapka of Kansas City's not-for-profit organization,Rightfully Sewn, will tell us about the production process, and how her organization trains and employs women who need a new start in life. OurMaster of Ceremonies, Katie Van Luchene, well-known throughout the Kansas City fashion community, will keep things moving along and entertain us with her charm and wit.

The event will be held in the Fountain Room of the 1900 Building, which is an elegant, modern gallery-like setting for our colorful garments. The 1900 Restaurant will be catering the event, and an open wine and champagne bar will be provided.

Proceeds will be donated to Kansas City's The Healing House for Women.
